Lee Mvtthews share 'In The Dark', the third track off their soon to be released debut album Bones. With 'In the Dark' the duo combine their trademark bass-driven dancefloor sound with the wistfully compelling vocals of Abby Christo (Mae Valley) for what promises to be yet another hit.
"We wanted to write something that felt moody yet energetic," says Graham Matthews. "Drawing inspiration from kiwi artists such as Quix and Ian Munro, and travelling a little further a field with LA based Mexican production duo Boombox Cartel. But the track still feels super unique to us as it has all of those dnb influenced synths in there too."
"The track lyrically is based around being left as the title suggests “in the dark” not really knowing where you stand with a person. We picked Abby based on the instrumental, it just had a feel we thought would suit her tone. Tom wrote the lyrics, on his walk home from the studio one night, and then abby wrote the second verse in the studio with us."
2019 is the year that Lee Mvtthews went from being one of the most promising acts in New Zealand electronic music to taking their place as established and in-demand producers and DJs.
The release of their first full length record comes just as the Southern Hemisphere heads toward summer, with the duo due to hit the road on a nationwide headline tour in the lead up to Christmas, before hitting the festival circuit. There's no way their eminently danceable sound won't be on road trip playlists across the country this summer, and there's every expectation that like the last one, this tour will be a sell out.
